May 1, 2016

Welcome to the re-launch of the BHHT blog!

Building Healthy Holy Temples (BHHT) is a ministry focused on healthy living from a spiritual and scriptural perspective. Our ministry is to seek the Lord’s way in becoming healthy and share this information with our community.

BHHT’s foundational scriptures are:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”  Romans 12:1

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
I Corinthians 6:19-20

Our next BHHT event will be January 7, 2017 at Oakcrest Church of Christ in South OKC and hosted by Oakcrest Celebrate Recovery.  We will continue to provide this event free to the community, however, to keep our costs down we will not be providing lunch. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or purchase your lunch from several food trucks that will be parked at the church.
We will also provide awesome keynote speakers as well as breakout sessions related to emotional eating, the many benefits of exercise (spiritual, emotional, physical) and purity with our bodies and minds.
BHHT is also happy to announce that the BHHT Praise and Worship team will return to bless us with encouraging Christian music, carefully selected to uplift and bring us closer to JESUS.
Please mark your calendars for January 7, 2017 for an inspiring time of praise and worship as well as engaging speakers.

Thoughts to Ponder:
When we go to other things (whatever they may be) for comfort, what we are really saying to ourselves is “God, you are not enough.  You don’t have what it takes to help me”.
“For he satisfies the thirsty, and fills the hungry with good things.”  Psalms 107:9

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.  John 14:27

“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.”  Phillipians 4:11

A simple prayer to pray:
God, I don’t want to want anything more than you.  Only you, Lord.  Only you. Help me, please, to live for you and you alone.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

May God give you wonderful blessings of peace and health,
-Tammy

BUILDING HEALTHY HOLY TEMPLES

February 7, 2015

Building Healthy Holy Temples (BHHT) is a ministry focused on healthy living from a spiritual and scriptural perspective. Our ministry is seeking the Lord’s way to becoming healthy and share this information with our community.

BHHT’s foundational scripture is from Romans 12:1 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Our first event on January 31, 2015 was a huge success.  We would like to thank everyone who came to the event. Our prayers and well wishes are with all of you who choose to follow this blog dedicated to healthy living with a Christ centered focus.

Kenny O’Neal from Moore, Oklahoma and ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss participant was one of our keynote speakers and he shared his story of how he lost 208 lbs! It was an amazing testimony of a life transformed.

One of his key points in his story was an analogy of climbing a mountain.  When we are climbing a mountain and we fall down, we don’t go back down to the bottom of the mountain. We get up. We get up right where we are and start climbing again. For many of us, when we fall down we feel like a failure and go backwards to the foot of the mountain to begin. We lose sight of the many victories and progress we have made and focus on the fact we have to start over---again.

But in Phillipians 3:13-14, Paul tells us “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

As Christians we are called to persevere and endure. Perseverance is defined as a steady persistence in a course of action especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. This does not mean you won’t experience failure or disappointments. Perseverance does not imply perfection. Romans 3:23 tells us that, “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We need to quit beating ourselves up and walking back down the mountain to start climbing up.  If you are struggling and have fallen--stop right where you are and don’t go backwards. “Press On” and start climbing the mountain one step at a time.

May God give you wonderful blessings of peace and health this week!
